CO2 Compensation in Brazil
In July 2019 we had the visit of a Brazilian delegation who participated in the SDG Conference and Festival from Landkreis Karlsruhe. Thirteen people came from three cities in the south of Brazil: Brusque, Guabiruba and Pomerode.
To compensate the CO2 emissions oft he flights of our Brazilian partners, we decided to plant some trees in their country. The action was performed by employees of the Municipal Environmental Foundation and students from municipal schools of Brusque.
The Landkreis Karlsruhe has a climate partnership with the city of Brusque since 2015. We have created an action plan focused in Urban Sustainable Development and now we are developing three major projects concerning SDG 7 Renewable Energy, SDG 9 Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Comunities, SDG 13 Climate Action and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
To compensate the CO2 we planted:
- 20 trees in two municipal schools in Brusque
- 40 trees in a water catchment area in the neighborhood of Zantão in Brusque
